A slim, square 17mm profile — understated and endlessly versatile, in a deep, confident black in a smooth, closed-grain finish. It suits monochrome photography, bold typographic prints and anything you want to feel grounded and gallery-sharp. Each frame is cut, mitered and assembled to fit your print — handmade in the UK and shipped ready to hang.

Made to your size. Every frame is cut, joined and glazed to order, which is why we can't accept returns on made-to-measure frames. Please check your size before ordering.

Arrives perfect, or we remake it. Every frame travels in specialised picture frame packaging. If anything reaches you less than perfect, send us a photo within 48 hours of delivery and we'll remake it free.

Caring for it. Peel any protective film from the glazing, then clean with a soft, dry cloth. Don't use glass cleaner.

Choosing a frame for your 16 × 20 inch artwork

A 16 × 20 inch frame fits a 16 × 20 inch sheet without a mount, equivalent to 406.4 × 508 mm. Its 4:5 proportions suit photographs and art prints prepared in that format. A 40 × 50 cm sheet is slightly smaller, so check your print’s actual dimensions rather than treating the inch and centimetre sizes as identical.

Choose frame-only to display your full 16 × 20 inch artwork. For smaller prints, add an optional mount with an opening labelled 12 × 16 or 8 × 12 inches. The mount creates a border inside the frame and costs extra.

To keep a 16 × 20 inch print and add a mount around it, move up to a 20 × 24 inch frame with a 16 × 20 inch opening. Select the mount after opening the larger frame’s options. Measure the full sheet, including any printed border, and allow additional wall space for the frame profile beyond the stated artwork size.

Mount opening labels refer to the artwork size. We cut the window slightly smaller so the mount overlaps the edges and helps prevent the artwork from falling through. Keep any signature or important detail away from the paper’s edge.

What size artwork fits a 16x20 frame?

A 16 × 20 inch frame holds a 16 × 20 inch sheet (406 × 508 mm) without a mount. Measure the full sheet, including any printed border. A 40 × 50 cm print is slightly smaller, so check your print’s actual size.

What mounts are available for a 16x20 frame?

You can add an optional mount with an opening labelled 12 × 16 or 8 × 12 inches, for smaller artwork. The mount is an extra selection and is not included with the starting frame-only option.

What frame do I need for a 16x20 print with a mount?

Choose a larger frame with a 16 × 20 inch opening. A 20 × 24 inch frame gives a narrow border; 22 × 28 and 24 × 30 inch frames offer the same opening with a wider border. Select the opening in the larger frame’s options.

Can I put an 11x14 print in a 16x20 frame?

Our 16 × 20 inch frame does not offer an 11 × 14 inch mount opening. For 11 × 14 inch artwork with a mount, choose a 13 × 16, 17 × 22 or 18 × 24 inch frame, each of which offers an 11 × 14 inch opening.

Is 16 × 20 inches the outside size of the frame?

No. It is the size of the artwork the frame holds. The moulding extends beyond that, so the overall outside dimensions depend on the profile you choose. Allow for the frame border when measuring your wall space.

Are the frames real wood?

Yes. Our wood mouldings are solid wood with closed-grain, open-grain or bobbin finishes, handmade in the UK. Metal mouldings are real aluminium.

How long does delivery take?

Each frame is cut and assembled to order. Dispatched in 2–5 working days.
